Creating a Strong Brand: The Role of a Website
Selling from social media is great and all, but remember what happened when FB and IG shut down? What are you going to do when/if that happens again? What happens if social media shuts down entirely and you lose all of your contacts, brand copy, sales conversations, and online presence?
You need to own a piece of the internet. You need the data that a website can give you and the legitimacy that a well-designed website provides when potential clients look you up. And they will look you up.
The corporations that you’re pitching to want to be able to see how you handle yourself in the online space and they expect professionalism. They want to verify who you are and what you do.
You need a website, and it needs to continuously improve in the same way that your brand and client journey do. You need that 24/7 employee to work for you, not against you!

Hello?
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:Hello.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:Hello, and welcome to episode four.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:Where is your website?
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:SS, let let's, let's break this down because one thing I cannot bear them is
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:trying to step into a corporate space charging your high ticket service.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:And when I say high ticket, I mean 10 K and up.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:Hey, you don't have a website.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:So let's break this down.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:You know, I'm always, I'm going to break it down.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:I'm going to snatch some edges.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:Somebody's going to wait a hand and going to say church.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:It's all good, but we've got to make sure you understand why you need a
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:website because some of y'all are out there thinking, well, I don't need it.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:I'm gonna keep selling off my Google document.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:No you not.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:You can sell off your Google document.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:Because when you're stepping into corporate spaces,
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:they want to look you up.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:When you had a nine to five, or if you still have a nine to five, do you
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:think people did not Google your name?
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:They did.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:And when you're stepping into these corporate spaces and
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:they're about to spend money
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:to help you diversify their culture and making more of an equitable space.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:They're going to Google to make sure you're legit.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:So just having a Google document, that ain't enough.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:That's not going to get you where you want to go.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:You also need a website because it's a 24 7 employee.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:We are in an age where people believe that you can just sell off of Instagram and
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:you can sell off a Facebook and be done.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:Y'all remember when Facebook and Instagram went down and everybody was freaking out.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:I remember that.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:Um, imagine Instagram and Facebook going down are Instagram
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:and Facebook just going away.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:And you have no piece of the internet.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:You don't have a little piece that you own.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:How is your business going to run having a website takes
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:you from a local to a global.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:Business because you are allowing and giving people access to
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:find you in different spaces.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:Now, social media, it does have its place.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:Social media should be where you're being social and driving people to
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:that website so that you are able to be hired for the services that you offer.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:A lot of times, we like to think that, well, let me create this website on Canva.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:And I know y'all probably think, is she always talking about Canva
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:and I am, and I love Canva, but CAMBA is not for everything.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:I know CAMBA has the option to do a website.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:And although is convenient.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:That website you create on CAMBA one, you can't.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:Once it's published is published to whatever size you make it.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:If you create it to be viewed on the desktop, once it's viewed on the cell
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:phone, it has a resize it, so is it really a website or just a glorified PDF?
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:Think about that.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:Even when a PDF, it will change on your phone.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:So as you are sitting here, like I got a website, I don't really need that.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:I got, Facebook.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:I got an Instagram.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:You're wrong.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:Get ad wrong.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:And your website is also important because it gives you data.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:You could put so many analytical tools and the back end of your website, you
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:can see where people are visiting from.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:You can see when, how long they stayed on your page.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:You can get recordings of how they navigate it through your website.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:And we do this at organized cast design company.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:This is one of the things that we put on your website, so
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:that, that analytical data.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:Is there for you to view the analytical data can tell you what you need to do.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:It can tell you if that webinar you did is working to get you
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:more visits, or maybe that blog post is getting you more organic.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:Traffic to your website, or maybe that color of that
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:button just isn't resonating.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:Having a website goes deeper than what I just need a place to sell things.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:Hadn't website gives you feedback on what you're doing.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:Good.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:It gives you feedback on what you can improve on.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:It gives you feedback on what kind of people you're actually
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:attracting when you think you may be attracting one type of person.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:But in reality, you're not.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:Because men lie, women lie, but numbers don't lie.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:There was a study that stated that 46% of all website visitors,
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:judge your credibility on how well designed it is 46%.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:That's almost half of your visits.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:So think about it like this.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:If you have a website and is half way put together somebody, roughly
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:half of the people that visit it.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:And if it's roughly put together, they don't think that you're credible these
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:companies and these corporations that you're hoping to jump into their space.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:So did you can make the world better.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:For that little girl down the street or the gay Hispanic guy that wants
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:a job at this corporation, all this work that you're doing, you won't be
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:able to do it because people are going to your website and they're thinking
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:you're not credible point blank.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:The N period.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:So when you're just like, well, I'm just going to sell from the
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:school with document, or I'm just gonna halfway do this website.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:My links don't work, or you just say, I'm going to do it on Canva.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:You are doing yourself a disservice.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:You are doing those people that you are trying to make space for
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:these people that you are fighting so hard to be accepted in the corporate
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:spaces for you are doing them a disservice by not having your website
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:together by not having a website at all.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:And just thinking that a Google document is all you need a website
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:is important to your brand because that w credibility that it gives.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:Your website makes you legitimate.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:Is that legitimacy piece is that piece of being seen as an expert in your
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:field and being seen as a professional, we already know you professional
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:blue, and that's all good and dandy, but people need to see something it's
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:just like having to turn in a resume.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:Or it's just like having to go through an interview process.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:People like to know who they're working with and that website
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:helps them figure it out.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:That website help solidify your brand.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:And then also make sure that the things that you're talking about on social media.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:And the things that's on your website, all that stuff is align.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:You can't be on social media.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:And the last thing you did about diversity equity inclusion is post
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:that black box and then turn around.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:On your website.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:And you're talking about all these other initiatives that you have, there has
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:to be consistency across your brand.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:And your website is a piece of that consistency.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:If you're relying on social media alone, and you are halfway doing it
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:and halfway the one that without a website, You're not going to get to
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:those levels where you're landing those corporations, because they can't who you
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:are and what you say that you're doing.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:So as you navigate through these episodes and you're thinking,
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:whoa, okay, maybe I need a brand, but I don't need that website.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:Websites are an investment and they are websites are a continuous effort just
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:like you improve yourself and improve your offerings and you get better over time.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:Your website is a continuous effort to keep improving.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:See what's working.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:See what's not working.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:And.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:Make it better so that as you grow, it grows, it's not a one.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:And done.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:I got my website I'm done is not, is not a one and done it is something
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:that you have to pour into and make sure when you make that choice to get a
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:website, which you need to make a choice.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:That you are aware that it is going to take one.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:Sometimes I have it done.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:Right.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:But to some time for you to be able to continuously improve it so that it
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:improves your credibility and improves your legitimacy, it improves your.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:Customer or a client journey.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:It is about improving your 24 7 employee and making sure that it is working
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:to help you and not against you.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:That's why it's not a one and done, but that's why you also
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:need one because it's 24 7.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:It's working for you while you sleep.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:And.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:You want that employee does working all the time to be on
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:the be as good as it can get.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:Now, that's all I have for you guys today.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:And remember, as we navigate through these episodes, start thinking about.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:Your mission, your mission, and why is more than just a brand is
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:more than just some pretty colors.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:And a website is about making sure that we create those diverse and
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:equitable spaces in the workplace.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:And the only way to do that is making sure you take care of your brain.
Lindsay Tramel-Jones:And your brand is more than those pretty things.
